If you're a fan of Mr Bean, Jim Carrey and the like, then you should see this show.

“Presented with exceptional energy, the show demonstrates Oldaker’s live performance skills while constantly subverting the conventions of comedy and circus, withdrawing the predictability to offer a genuinely unique Festival experience”

Daniel Oldaker controls the audience like an orchestra in this deft physical comedy.
Dandyman was an exemplary example of physical comedy which prompted many laughs. Performer Daniel Oldaker combined a few simple props to tell a simple story, which was the framework for a variety of gags.
The finale was appropriately extravagant and messy but I think the real highlight for me was the introductory sketch using straws. Oldaker made several drinking straws into a number of different objects. What impressed me was the sheer number of different objects and how clearly they were represented - not to mention that it was very funny.
I always admire performers that seem to control an audience like a conductor guiding an orchestra. Daniel does this. At one point he literally uses straws as batons.
Dandyman contains a small amount of audience interaction, but you're probably safe if you avoid the front row and the aisle seats.

Christmas, the festive season – the silly season some might say, especially if that person is Dandyman. The brains behind the silly, Daniel Oldaker, returns to The Butterfly Club as his alter-ego in his Christmas-inspired show, Dandyman – Mocktales.
He appears on stage dressed in pyjamas but it’s not long until they come off and the trademark bright-blue suit with bow tie makes its appearance. Dandyman recalls various childhood memories of Christmas time accompanied by a variety of routines consisting of clowning, magic or dancing and sometimes all three. At one point, I distinctly feel like I am watching an episode of Mr. Bean, but one in which he speaks.
Oldaker has such a strong stage presence and is full of charisma. One of the more memorable scenes involves Dandyman reminiscing about his grandfather and the magic trick he used to perform to the grandchildren. It brought a feeling of quaint nostalgia to the audience as we were invariably led to thoughts of our own special family memories. I did enjoy some of the silliness and playfulness on stage and the memories of childhood Christmases.
